Brief biography of Vladimir Feoktistov (1947).

In 1966 he entered the Surikov's Moscow Art Institute. then studied at the Art School of Makhachkala and at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute. Passion for creativity I. Bosch, P. Bruegel, and P. Filonov had a significant influence on the formation of him as an artist. The grotesque manner of writing, together with a complex plot, did not fall into the mainstream.

The first solo exhibition was organized in 1983 with the support of the Nobel Prize winner P. Kapitsa at the Institute of Physical Problems of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow. Despite some success among the scientific, diplomatic, and business elite, Feoktistov's work develops outside the conventional field of the capital's artistic life. Since 1989 he lives in Northern California. In 1991, after returning home to Gudermes, Chechnya he finds himself amidst of civil war, terror and expulsion of the Russian population from Chechnya.

After surviving two armed attacks, he was forced to flee Chechnya. Having lived for several years in Moscow and St. Petersburg, the artist retires near the Black Sea. Life experience strengthened him in the Bosch – Breugel view of the world, which he sees as full of evil, vice, stupidity, and spiritual ugliness. However, in this analysis of human nature still there is nostalgia for the lost, but existing meaning.

Feoktistov is a participant of several exhibitions that took place in New York and Seattle. His personal exhibitions were held in Moscow, Grozny, San Francisco, St. Petersburg.
